The Rolex Submariner Date 16613 is the long-running two-tone Yellow Rolesor Submariner
that defined the model’s modern era from 1988 through 2009 — a remarkable 21-year
production run that made the 16613 one of the most produced Submariner references
of all time. This 2001 example places production firmly in the modern Luminova era
that succeeded tritium dial markers at the turn of the millennium, and after the
introduction of solid end-link bracelet construction. The 40mm Oyster case combines
Oystersteel and 18k yellow gold across both the case and the matching two-tone Jubilee
or Oyster bracelet, depending on configuration, with a fluted gold-and-steel bezel
housing the unidirectional rotating blue aluminum bezel insert. The blue sunburst
dial features applied 18k yellow gold hour markers, Mercedes hands, and the cyclops-
magnified date at 3 o’clock — the layout that has defined the Submariner for generations.
Powered by the Rolex Caliber 3135 self-winding chronometer movement with a 48-hour
power reserve, the 16613 carries COSC certification and beats at 28,800 vibrations
per hour. Sapphire crystal, screw-down Triplock crown, and 300-meter water resistance
