The Rolex Datejust 36 reference 16233 is the two-tone Yellow Rolesor expression 
of the most influential dress watch in horology, produced from 1988 to approximately
2005 in a seventeen-year run that made it one of the longest-serving Datejust references
of the modern era. The 16233 introduced three meaningful upgrades to the classic
Datejust formula: the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal that replaced the legacy
acrylic, the new-generation Caliber 3135 movement, and the upgraded Twinlock crown
system that brought water resistance into modern professional dive territory. The
36mm Oyster case combines the durability of Oystersteel with the warmth of 18k yellow
gold on the fluted bezel, winding crown, and bracelet center links — Yellow Rolesor,
Rolex’s patented term for this specific material combination. This example carries
a gold dial with applied luminous hour markers and Mercedes hands, the date at three
magnified by the signature Cyclops lens. Powered by the in-house Rolex Caliber 3135
with paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, approximately 48 hours of power reserve,
and Superlative Chronometer certification. Water-resistant to 100 meters and worn
