The Rolex Submariner Date 16610 is one of the most beloved references in modern 
Rolex history — the long-running stainless steel Submariner Date produced from 1988
through 2010, and the final Submariner Date to carry a five-digit reference and 
the classic aluminum bezel insert before ceramic Cerachrom arrived in 2010. Across
its 22-year production run, the 16610 saw subtle but meaningful refinements: the
upgrade from tritium hour markers to Super-LumiNova around the year 2000, the introduction
of solid end-link bracelet construction in 2000, and progressive movement refinements
within the Caliber 3135 family. The 40mm Oystersteel Oyster case is paired with 
the unidirectional rotating aluminum bezel insert — the visual signature that distinguishes
the 16610 from the later ceramic-bezel 116610LN — and the matching Oyster bracelet
with Fliplock extension. The glossy black dial features applied hour markers, white
Mercedes hands, and the cyclops-magnified date at 3 o’clock, the layout that has
defined the Submariner for over fifty years. Powered by the in-house Rolex Caliber
3135 self-winding chronometer movement, the 16610 beats at 28,800 vibrations per
hour, delivers a 48-hour power reserve, and carries Superlative Chronometer certification.
