What is the difference between caliber 1861 and 3861 Speedmaster?
Both are manual-wind chronograph movements descended from the lunar-mission caliber 321. The 1861 (1997–2021) is the long-running successor to the 861. The 3861 (2021–present) is METAS-certified Master Chronometer with co-axial escapement and a slightly thicker case. The 3861 is the current production reference.
Is the Speedmaster Snoopy a good buy?
Two main Snoopy references trade actively: the 311.32.42.30.04.003 (Apollo 13 Silver Snoopy 2003) and 310.32.42.50.02.001 (Silver Snoopy 50th Anniversary 2020). Both are limited and have appreciated meaningfully over their original retail.
Do you carry vintage Speedmasters?
Yes. We selectively stock pre-1969 caliber 321 references (105.012, 105.003 Ed White, 145.022 transitional). Vintage Speedmasters require full original-component verification (dial tritium aging, hands, bezel, pushers, crown, bracelet) — priced and presented accordingly.
What is the FOIS Speedmaster?
FOIS = First Omega in Space — the 311.32.40.30.01.001 reissue (2012) commemorating Wally Schirra’s Sigma 7 mission in 1962. 39.7mm case, applied logo, alpha hands. Discontinued, traded in the secondary market.
Are Speedmasters water resistant?
The standard Moonwatch is rated to 50 meters — acrylic-crystal models lower. The Speedmaster Racing, Mark II, X-33, and Skywalker variants have higher water resistance. Disclosed per reference on our listings.
Can I service my pre-owned Speedmaster?
Yes. Omega service centers worldwide accept Speedmasters for full overhaul. Typical service interval is every 5–7 years; cost varies by reference and movement. We can recommend independent watchmakers for vintage caliber 321 service if preferred.
