Examined to the movement.
The Rolex Datejust 36 reference 16013 is the transitional Yellow Rolesor Datejust of the 1980s, the reference that bridges the four-digit vintage era and the modern six-digit Datejust catalog. Produced from the late 1970s into the late 1980s, the 16013 was one of the final Datejust references to carry the Caliber 3035 — the movement that introduced the quickset date function to the Datejust line and laid the technical groundwork for the legendary Caliber 3135 that succeeded it in 1988. The 36mm Oyster case combines stainless steel with 18k yellow gold on the fluted bezel, winding crown, and bracelet center links — Yellow Rolesor, the two-tone material formula Rolex would patent and refine for decades to come. This example carries a silver dial with applied hour markers and Mercedes hands, the date at three magnified by the Cyclops lens, executed in the proportions and finish that defined the 1980s Datejust era. Powered by the Rolex Caliber 3035, a 27-jewel automatic Superlative Chronometer movement operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with quickset date functionality. Worn on the matching Yellow Rolesor Oyster or Jubilee bracelet. 1985 production, pre-owned in vintage condition.
