The Cartier Tank Must WSTA0055 is the blue-dial large-model expression of the modern Tank Must, the reference that revived the spirit of the 1977 vermeil Tank Must in contemporary stainless steel construction with a striking color-block dial program. The Tank silhouette itself traces to 1917, when Louis Cartier designed the original Tank around the proportions of the Renault FT-17 tank, and across more than a century the Tank has remained one of the most universally recognized rectangular wristwatches in horological history. The 33.7mm by 25.5mm stainless steel case measures 6.6mm thick, sitting effortlessly flat under any cuff and pairing as easily with tailoring as with a weekend dress shirt. The polished blue lacquered dial carries silvered sword-shaped hands and the clean minimalist treatment that defines the lacquer-dial Tank Must references, with the dial protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The matching blue beaded steel crown is set with a faceted synthetic spinel cabochon at 3 o’clock. Quartz movement, blue alligator-skin strap with steel buckle, water resistance to 30 meters.
