The Rolex GMT-Master II 126720VTNR — known to collectors as the “Sprite” — is one of the most boundary-breaking references Rolex has released in the modern era. Unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2022, the 126720VTNR is the destro, left-handed GMT-Master II: the first new left-handed Rolex sports model in decades, with the winding crown and the cyclops date window mirrored to the 9 o’clock side of the case for left-wrist wear. The choice was an unmistakable signal from Rolex — that left-handed wear deserves a dedicated reference, not merely a workaround — and the watch immediately became one of the most discussed Rolex releases of the 2020s. The 40mm Oystersteel Oyster case is paired with the bidirectional rotating green-and-black Cerachrom ceramic bezel that gives the reference its Sprite nickname: vivid green on the 18-to-6 nighttime half, glossy black on the 6-to-18 daytime half. The glossy black dial features applied 18k white gold hour markers, Mercedes hands with Chromalight luminescence, the central 24-hour GMT hand rendered in matching Sprite green, and the date at 9 o’clock.
