Is the 5711/1A still being made?
No. Patek Philippe officially discontinued the steel 5711/1A in 2021. The replacement is the 5811/1G in white gold. The 5711/1A remains the most-traded modern Patek reference in the secondary market.
What is the difference between the 5711, 5712, and 5980?
The 5711 is the time-and-date Nautilus. The 5712 is the time-date-moonphase-power-reserve complication. The 5980 is the Nautilus chronograph. Each commands different valuations depending on dial color, year, and condition.
Do you require papers on the Nautilus?
Strongly preferred. The 5711/1A in particular trades at a premium with original Patek certificate of origin. We will buy and sell pieces without papers, but the price differential reflects the documentation gap. Disclose what you have honestly.
Are the precious-metal Nautilus references worth considering?
Yes. The 5711/1R (rose gold) and 5711/1G (white gold) trade differently than the steel reference. The Tiffany-Blue 5711/1A-018 commanded record auction prices in 2021–2022. The new 5811/1G in white gold is the contemporary equivalent.
