The 116200 was the first six-digit Datejust in the smooth-bezel steel configuration and the last generation of the 36mm Datejust to use the long-running Caliber 3135 before Rolex transitioned the platform to the next-generation Caliber 3235 with the 126200 successor. The 36mm Oystersteel case is built on the architecture Rolex established with the 1945 Datejust, the case profile that introduced the modern dress watch silhouette and has remained essentially unchanged for the better part of a century. The smooth polished bezel gives the 116200 a clean, dressy profile that pairs equally well with formal attire or casual wear. The blue dial features applied luminous hour markers and Mercedes hands, with the date at three magnified by the Cyclops lens. Powered by the in-house Rolex Caliber 3135 with paramagnetic blue Parachrom hairspring, approximately 48 hours of power reserve, and Superlative Chronometer certification.
