Cartier designed the Santos in 1904 for the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, who wanted to read the time without taking his hands off the controls — one of the first men’s watches made for the wrist. The modern Santos de Cartier, relaunched in 2018, keeps the square case and the exposed screws on the bezel and bracelet, and adds QuickSwitch for changing straps and SmartLink for sizing the bracelet without tools. It comes in Medium (about 35 mm) and Large (about 40 mm) in steel, two-tone and gold.
