The Reference

Examined to the movement.

The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph reference 49150 represents the second-generation Overseas chronograph — a 42mm stainless steel sport-chronograph produced from 2004 until its discontinuation around 2016, when the entire Overseas line was rearchitected for the modern collection. The 49150 holds a particular place in the modern collecting canon as the last automatic Overseas chronograph to use a non-manufacture base movement (Frédéric Piguet-derived) before Vacheron Constantin transitioned to the fully in-house 5200 manufacture caliber in the current 5500V references. The case measures 42mm by 12.45mm, executed in stainless steel with the model's signature Maltese-cross-flank bezel and a half-Hunter caseback bearing an engraved representation of the Amerigo Vespucci ship. The vivid lacquered blue dial offers exceptional contrast with applied white-gold indices and luminous-filled hands — a layout featuring a big-date window at 12 o'clock, a 30-minute counter at 3, small seconds at 6, and a 12-hour register at 9. Powering the chronograph is the Caliber 1137 — a column-wheel chronograph movement composed of 183 parts, 37 jewels, beating at 21,600 vph with a 40-hour power reserve and anti-magnetic protection up to 25,000 A/m. Water-resistant to 150 meters. A 2019 example, presented as a full set. Affirm financing available at checkout.
